CV/Interview Issues
Career Issue
I’m applying for jobs but I’m not getting called for interview & when I do I’m unsuccessful in winning the job
Career Manager saysThe first question to ask is whether your CV is working for you and promoting you well enough to be noticed in the pile of applications and selected for interview. In addition to being a record of your work experience, your CV needs to overview you as a person, and your specific skills/talents you can offer an employer. It also needs to contain information targeted towards the sorts of work/jobs you’re applying for. Once your CV is refined and effective, you’ll get the interviews, and then it’s a matter of having your pitch ready. You need to study the job description carefully, imagine you’re the employer and create a list of your requirements for this position. Then assess how you measure up on these. Identify where you match well and prepare to sell these elements well. Identify your weaknesses and determine how you can allay any employer concerns here. Be sure of the 3 or 4 main differentiators you want to get across at interview and rehearse them to the mirror or with a friend/family member in advance of the interview. You’ll really improve your chances.

Ideal Career
Career Issue
I know there is something more suitable for me out there, but I don’t know what it is…
Career Manager Says
If you’re engaged in work that really suits you as a person, your chances of achieving job satisfaction and lifestyle happiness are very high. But how can you know what type of work matches you best? The secret is to collect lots of relevant information about yourself . Clearly the information that regularly appear on CVs like skills and work experience is very important in terms of your future options, however the less visible items, such as personality, interests, aspirations and work values are perhaps more vital to consider. Determining your personality and interests through psychometric assessments can help in uncovering excellent job fits and is usually highly enlightening. Assessing your work values and aspirations helps decide on what’s important to you and the level of motivation you’re likely to apply in taking a particular route. Considered together all this career data produces work requirements that if met, will guarantee a very satisfying job future for you. Following up this data collection and discovery with a career consultation can help you objectively analyse the situation and decide on your path to get to your ideal job – you can even get your CV updated. It’s not as far off as you might think.
